Professional Standing – This is evaluated through either unrestricted state licensure or two letters of attestation from (1) a certified medical physicist and (2) an ABR-certified radiologist or radiation oncologist. Licensure applies to a limited number of radiologic physicists; but for those who have it, it is sufficient in its own right.
Lifelong Learning – Acceptable Category 1 credits are those accredited by CAMPEP, ACCME, or other recognized accrediting organizations; optional SDEPs (self-directed educational projects), earn 15 credits each, up to a maximum of 15 credits per calendar year. All time-limited certificate holders are expected to start acquiring CE credits in 2006, but may apply Category 1 or SDEP credits earned after January 1, 2005.
Self-assessment – Diplomates are expected to begin acquiring SAMs as of 2007.
