Exam Registration Process

Candidates with complete registration packets (including all required documentation ) should submit them between July 1 and October 31.

Candidates must submit complete* registration packets together with all required documentation as a single submission. All packets submitted will be reviewed for completeness upon receipt. Any incomplete packets, or any packets with missing documentation, will be sent back to the candidate, with the next opportunity for submission being in July 2013 for the 2014 initial qualifying examinations (under the requirements in place for the 2014 examinations).

* A complete registration packet includes the completed registration form, all required documents, and payment.

Initial registration process timeline for 2013 examinations for first-time Part 1 registrants in 2012

2012

  • October 31
    Deadline for submission of complete registration packets to the ABR. Packets postmarked after this date will be returned, with the next opportunity for submission being in July 2013 for the 2014 initial qualifying examinations in medical physics (under the requirements in place for the 2014 examinations).
     
  • November 30
    ABR notification of acceptance/denial of registration packet. Incomplete packets will be returned, with the next opportunity for submission being in July 2013 for the 2014 initial qualifying examinations (under the requirements in place for the 2014 examinations).

2013

  • February 28
    First notification of Part 1 exam eligibility for first-time registrants in 2012 for 2013 examinations. Denied registrants are given one opportunity to appeal.
     
  • March 30
    Deadline for receipt of appeal.
     
  • April 30
    Final notification of Part 1 exam eligibility for first-time registrants in 2012 for 2013 examinations, following review of appeal requests. Only one appeal is allowed per year.
