drvascular interventional radiology

Vascular and interventional radiology is a subspecialty of diagnostic radiology that encompasses the diagnosis of all abnormalities and anomalies of the arteries, veins, and lymphatics. It includes all vascular and nonvascular imaging-directed interventional procedures. All modalities and techniques used in diagnostic and interventional procedures are also part of this subspecialty.

MOC (maintenance of certification) is for diplomates who are already ABR-certified in vascular and interventional radiology, and who are working in the 10-year cycle of maintaining that certification.

Diplomates hold time-limited (10-year) certificates and are therefore automatically enrolled in the MOC program. They should start participating immediately.

Please note that you may fulfill the MOC requirements to maintain your certifications in both diagnostic radiology and vascular/interventional radiology with a single MOC program. Two separate MOC efforts are not necessary.

The American Board of Radiology has a history of ensuring excellence in the professionals who practice in our field.

As the applications, technologies, and methodologies of radiology continue to expand and develop, we understand that lifelong learning is critical to ensure that new information and knowledge are incorporated into clinical practice. We are therefore looking forward with vision.

Our maintenance of certification process (ABR-MOC) is designed to facilitate and document the professional development of each diplomate through its focus on the essential elements of quality care. The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) and the American Board of Radiology ( ABR), as a member board, have initiated this process.

Over the next ten years, ABR-MOC will continue to develop into a comprehensive vehicle through which all diplomates can ensure the public and the radiologic community that they are incorporating new information into their practices, thereby delivering excellence in care.

So, how does this all work? As a first step you should take a look at the four components of the diagnostic radiology MOC program:
