Certificate Verification FAQs
How can I find out if a particular radiologist, radiation oncologist, or medical physicist is certified?
If you do NOT require a formal written verification of a physician or physicist's status:
The ABR provides a free online searchable database to find and verify the status of ABR-certified individuals. The database can be accessed on the home page of the website (www.theabr.org) in the upper righthand corner ("Check Board Certification"). Click on the "I" icon for more information about the database and instructions for using it. Information on physician certification is also available online at no charge from the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) at www.certificationmatters.org.
How can I get a formal written verification of a physician or physicist's status?
We can provide an official letter of verification for a processing fee of $100 payable by VISA™, MASTERCARD™, or AMERICAN EXPRESS™. We are unable to accept any other credit card types.
Send your written request via fax or postal mail, accompanied by the fee, to:
The American Board of Radiology

I am an ABR-certified physician or physicist, or a candidate in the process of ABR certification. How can I get a formal written verification of my own status?
If you are a diplomate of the ABR, or a candidate in the process of ABR certification, we will provide an official letter of verification to you for a discounted processing fee of $30. Please follow the instructions above.
Do you provide referrals?
No, the ABR does not give referrals.
Can you give me any background on a particular radiologist?
We will only verify whether an individual is certified and in which specialty or subspecialty. If an individual is still in the examination process, the verification will include that information.
Do you publish any mailing lists?
No, ABR data are kept confidential.
