Announcements: Former ABR President Named CMO for ACR Radiation Oncology Research

The American College of Radiology (ACR) has appointed Bruce Haffty, MD, to be chief medical officer for radiation oncology research. Dr. Haffty will collaborate with ACR staff, Radiation Therapy Oncology Group Foundation scientific leadership, and industry partners to advance clinical research trials in radiation oncology.
The vice chancellor for cancer programs at Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences and a professor in the department of radiation oncology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson and New Jersey Medical School, Dr. Haffty was ABR president from 2010 to 2012.
A nationally recognized leader in the field, Dr. Haffty is a former president and board chair of the Radiological Society of North America and the American Society for Radiation Oncology, and a former president of the American Radium Society and the Association of Directors of Radiation Oncology Programs.
In addition to serving in leadership roles for the Alliance Clinical Trials Group, Dr. Haffty has been co-investigator or co-principal investigator on multiple clinical trials and authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations.
Dr. Haffty holds a master’s degree in biomedical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and earned his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine.
