Initial Certification Fees and Payments

    Diagnostic Radiology

    When you apply for Initial Certification, a $640 application fee is due at the time you submit your application (or $2000 for International Medical Graduates). All exam fees (see below) are due when you register. If you don’t pass an exam on your first attempt, you’ll need to pay a one-time re-exam fee.

    • Qualifying Exam: $1240
    • Certifying Exam: $1280
    • Re-Exam: $640

    Please note all fees are nonrefundable. However, if you register for an exam and then cancel or don’t attend, any exam fees you’ve paid will be applied to the next available exam.

     

    Interventional Radiology/Diagnostic Radiology

    When you apply for Initial Certification, a $640 application fee is due at the time you submit your application (or $2000 for International Medical Graduates).  All exam fees (see below) are due when you register.  If you don’t pass an exam on your first attempt, you’ll need to pay a one-time re-exam fee.

    • Qualifying Exam: $1240
    • Certifying Computer-based Exam: $640
    • Certifying Oral Exam: $1280
    • Certifying Oral Exam Cancelation: $400 if you cancel more than five business days after registration closes or don’t attend the exam.
    • Re-Exam: $640

    Please note all fees are nonrefundable. However, if you register for an exam and then cancel or don’t attend, any exam fees you’ve paid will be applied to the next available exam.

     

    Medical Physics

    When you apply for Initial Certification, a $250 application fee is due at the time you submit your application (or $2000 for International Medical Graduates). All exam fees (see below) are due when you register.  If you don’t pass an exam on your first attempt, you’ll need to pay a one-time re-exam fee.

    • Part 1 Exam: $210
    • Part 2 Exam: $640
    • Part 3 (Oral) Exam: $780
    • Certifying Oral Exam Cancelation: $400 if you cancel more than five business days after registration closes or don’t attend the exam.
    • Re-Exam Part 1 and/or Part 2: $250
    • Re-Exam Part 3 (Oral) Exam: $390

    Radiation Oncology

    When you apply for Initial Certification, a $640 application fee is due at the time you submit your application (or $2000 for International Medical Graduates).     Subspecialties: Neuroradiology, Nuclear Radiology, Pediatric Radiology, Pain Medicine

    When you apply for Initial Certification, a $640 application fee is due at the time you submit your application. All exam fees (see below) are due when you register. If you don’t pass an exam on your first attempt, you’ll need to pay a one-time re-exam fee.

    • Exam: $1280
    • Re-exam: $640

    Requesting Feedback for Oral Exams

    You can request feedback if you fail an oral exam.

    The cost to request feedback if you fail the overall exam is $150. If you’ve conditioned the exam, you can request feedback at no charge.

    Other Fees and Payments

    Requesting a Formal Certification Letter

    Candidates currently in the certification process and diplomates can request a formal certification letter printed on linen paper with the ABR’s official raised seal. Simply fill out our Verification Letter Request.

    Doing so will cost:

    • $30 for self-verification.
    • $100 for third-party requests.

    After submitting your request, we’ll send you a PayPal invoice within 3-5 business days.

    Requesting a Replacement or Duplicate Certificate

    It costs $100 (per copy) to receive a replacement or duplicate of your original certificate.

    Making Payments

    Unless otherwise stated, you can pay all your fees in myABR.

    You can pay by Visa™, MasterCard™, American Express™, or eCheck only (U.S. currency). We don’t accept cashier’s checks or money orders.

    Exam fees can be paid in full or in partial payments of $100 or more.
