Initial Certification Exams

The ABR administers exams for each of its specialties and subspecialties. Exams are administered remotely; for more information, please click here.

The following table includes the 2022 exam schedule. Please note that a one-day oral exam administration has been added. While this additional date is intended for candidates who must miss the main exam administration, or those who conditioned or failed a prior attempt, anyone who is eligible to sit for an oral exam may choose the one-day exam.

The one-day oral exam administration will have limited registration availability. Candidates are strongly encouraged to take the main oral exam administration unless they have an unavoidable life event.

MOC Exam

Please Note: Beginning in 2018, interventional radiology/diagnostic radiology (IR/DR) diplomates who need to take a traditional MOC Exam will take only the IR portion of the IR/DR Certifying Exam. If a Subspecialty MOC Exam is needed, IR/DR diplomates will take the DR Certifying Exam and select the subspecialty area for all elective modules.
