Part 1: Professionalism and Professional Standing
Learn what type of medical license you need to stay certified with the ABR and what to do if your license status changes.
-
Staying certified with the ABR starts with holding a medical license.
As a diplomate maintaining your certification, you must hold a valid, full, and unrestricted license in a jurisdiction in the United States, its territories, or in Canada.
The ABR reviews all licenses you’ve held, past and present. Unless otherwise noted, they all must be current and unrestricted.
For medical physics diplomates practicing in a state that doesn’t require a license (all but Florida, Hawaii, New York, and Texas), you’ll need to provide a professional attestation completed by one available attester (as approved by the ABR) upon request.
