October 2026;19(5):12

Former ABR Board President Bruce Haffty, MD, is one of three recipients of this year’s Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Gold Medal.
Dr. Haffty is the associate vice chancellor for cancer programs at Rutgers Biomedical Health Sciences, and a professor of radiation oncology at the Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
He served as ABR president from 2010 to 2012. He was the 2020 recipient of the American Society for Radiation Oncology Gold Medal and the 2024 awardee of the American Radium Society Gold Medal. He is an honorary member of the European Society of Radiology and the Spanish Society of Radiology.
Two other former ABR volunteers — Jocelyn Chertoff, MD, and Melissa Rosado de Christenson, MD — also earned RSNA Gold Medals this year.
The RSNA Gold Medal is the association’s highest honor. It is awarded annually by the RSNA Board of Directors to those who have rendered unusual service to the science of radiology. The award has been given out since 1919.
