Several changes have occurred following the meetings of the ABR Board of Governors (BOG) and the ABR Board of Trustees (BOT) at the end of September.
New BOG Officers include Brent J. Wagner, MD, president, and Vincent P. Mathews, MD, president-elect. Lisa A. Kachnic, MD, immediate past president of the BOG, will be serving one post-presidency year.
Rotating off the BOG were Donald P. Frush, MD (who also served as chair of the BOT); Mary C. Mahoney, MD; and Matthew A. Mauro, MD.
Moving from the BOT to the BOG are Cheri L. Canon, MD, FACR, and John A. Kaufman, MD. They have been replaced on the BOT, respectively, by Desiree E. Morgan, MD, from the University of Alabama, Birmingham, and M. Victoria Marx, MD, from the University of Southern California.
Lane F. Donnelly, MD, and Lynn D. Wilson, MD, MPH, rotated off the BOT. They were replaced respectively by David B. Larson, MD, Stanford University, and Andrea K. Ng, MD, MPH, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Stephen F. Simoneaux, MD, from Emory University, also joined the BOT, replacing Donald P. Frush, MD.
The new chair of the BOT is Donald J. Flemming, MD, and he will serve on both boards in this capacity.

The American Board of Radiology (ABR) has named Vincent P. Mathews, MD, as president-elect. He succeeds former ABR President-elect Brent J. Wagner, MD, who became ABR president effective October 1, 2018.
Dr. Mathews serves as professor and chairman of radiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine with highest distinction. He completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at Indiana University School of Medicine and a fellowship in neuroradiology at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Mathews’ special interests include stroke, epilepsy, and physiological neuroimaging, including functional MR imaging and magnetic resonance spectroscopy. He is former chief of neuroradiology and director of the Neuroradiology Fellowship Program at Indiana University School of Medicine. From 1995 to 2003, he was a consultant and an ad hoc reviewer for the National Institutes of Health. He served as President and CEO of Northwest Radiology Network in Indianapolis, Indiana from 2009-2014. He is certified by the ABR in diagnostic radiology and also holds subspecialty certification in neuroradiology.

The American Board of Radiology (ABR) has named Brent J. Wagner, MD, as president. He succeeds former ABR President Lisa A. Kachnic, MD, who became ABR president on October 28, 2016.
Dr. Wagner, a diagnostic radiologist with a subspecialty in body imaging, has been a member of West Reading Radiology Associates, a private practice in West Reading, Pennsylvania, since 1998 and is currently its president. He is a former medical staff president of the Reading Health System.
He received his undergraduate education at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He served his internship at Roanoke Memorial Hospital and his residency at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center at Lackland AFB, Texas.
Dr. Wagner has served on the ABR Board since 2011 and is currently a member of the ABR’s Board of Governors. He is a former staff member of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) and current visiting lecturer for the American College of Radiology’s (ACR’s) American Institute for Radiologic Pathology (AIRP). He is on the editorial board of RadioGraphics, offering his expertise in genitourinary imaging.
Dr. Wagner also serves on the Professionalism Committee for the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and is a member of the Commission on Leadership and Practice Development for the ACR. A member of the Reading Health System Board of Directors since 2010, he currently serves as board chairman. He is also a member of the American Roentgen Ray Society, the Pennsylvania Radiological Society, and the Berks County Medical Society. He is a senior member of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine and a fellow of the Society of Abdominal Radiology.
Dr. Wagner’s honors and awards include Phi Beta Kappa (Lafayette College); chief resident (October 1990 to March 1991); Residency Teacher of the Year (1992-1993 and 1998-1999); First Place Award, Society of Uroradiology/European Society of Uroradiology Film Interpretation competition (June 1996, Zurich, Switzerland); Air Force Commendation Medal (1988), and Air Force Commendation Medal, First Oak Leaf Cluster (1994). Author or co-author of nearly 50 publications, he lectures regularly on many genitourinary and radiology leadership topics. He counts computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and ultrasound as his areas of special interest and expertise.
