The American Board of Radiology (ABR) has named Vincent P. Mathews, MD, as president-elect. He succeeds former ABR President-elect Brent J. Wagner, MD, who became ABR president effective October 1, 2018.
Dr. Mathews serves as professor and chairman of radiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine with highest distinction. He completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at Indiana University School of Medicine and a fellowship in neuroradiology at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Mathews’ special interests include stroke, epilepsy, and physiological neuroimaging, including functional MR imaging and magnetic resonance spectroscopy. He is former chief of neuroradiology and director of the Neuroradiology Fellowship Program at Indiana University School of Medicine. From 1995 to 2003, he was a consultant and an ad hoc reviewer for the National Institutes of Health. He served as President and CEO of Northwest Radiology Network in Indianapolis, Indiana from 2009-2014. He is certified by the ABR in diagnostic radiology and also holds subspecialty certification in neuroradiology.
