For certificate and exam eligibility requirements, please refer to the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Hospice and Palliative Medicine Certification page.

Maintenance of Certification

Continuous subspecialty certification in hospice and palliative medicine is contingent upon meeting the requirements of the ABIM's Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. For MOC program details, please see the ABIM Maintenance of Certification page. For ABR diplomates maintaining their ABR primary certificate, ABIM offers MOC reciprocity. This means that you can attest to maintaining your ABR certificate and only have to participate in Part 3 with ABIM to maintain your hospice and palliative medicine certificate. If you are not maintaining your ABR certificate, you must participate in all four MOC parts with ABIM to maintain your hospice and palliative medicine certificate.
