After spending years in volunteer roles, three ABR diplomates have made the transition to board member. Pamela Propeck, MD; Paul J. Rochon, MD; and Catheryn Yashar, MD, were named to the Board of Trustees during the ABR’s fall meeting. Each brings a different perspective to their new position, but all are committed to serving our candidates and diplomates.
Dr. Propeck
A professor of radiology at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, Dr. Propeck started as an ABR volunteer in 1998. She has written oral board questions for initial certification, served as an oral board examiner in the breast section, and been chair of the oral board committee. She also served on the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) advisory board.
“I look forward to a successful transition to remote exams, both written and oral,” Dr. Propeck said. “I hope to engender in the examinees a continued faith that while the ABR is tasked with a crucial, monumental responsibility, they recognize it is an honorable duty executed with fairness, transparency, and humility.”
Dr. Rochon
Dr. Rochon is a vascular and interventional radiologist and is affiliated with the University of Colorado Hospital and Children’s Hospital Colorado. He also is an associate professor of radiology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and has been an ABR volunteer for four years.
“I look forward to being a voice for our diplomates and incorporating ideas and methods to allow our system to adapt to the many changes in our future,” Dr. Rochon said.
Dr. Yashar
Chief of breast radiation services and a professor of radiation medicine and applied sciences at the University of California San Diego, Dr. Yashar also serves as chief of staff and associate chief medical officer at UCSD and has been an ABR volunteer since 2004.
“I am excited to be involved with the Board of Trustees and, in my role, will work to ensure that the process of obtaining and maintaining board certification will allow diplomates to satisfy clinical practice standards in an efficient manner,” she said.
