The holidays have arrived and the ABR is especially grateful for the efforts of its more than 1,300 volunteers. In the spirit of the season, we asked a few of our Trustees to talk about what this time of year means to them.
Kalpana M. Kanal, PhD
(Medical Physics, Diagnostic Medical Physics)
The holidays are a joyous celebration of being together with friends and family, being grateful for everything in my life, and indulging in traditions. It is an opportunity to slow down and reflect on the year gone by, the accomplishments, and what is ahead. I love the cold weather, the cheesy Hallmark movies, and the possibilities and excitement of the new year!
Kate Maturen, MD
(Diagnostic Radiology, Abdominal Imaging)
Many of us have very busy lives and are propelled forward by responsibilities and tasks throughout the year. The holidays are a moment to slow down, be present, remember what is important, and what we value heading into the next year. This is best accomplished with liberal amounts of snow, holiday baking, fireside board games, and repeated viewings of the movie “Elf.”
Paul J. Rochon, MD
(Interventional Radiology/Diagnostic Radiology)
The holidays are a time of gratitude for me. It’s a time to take advantage of having your loved ones around because life is short, and there will be a time when they or you are no longer here. It’s a time to embrace the present and create more memories.
Kenneth Rosenzweig, MD
(Radiation Oncology)
Holidays are, of course, a wonderful time to connect with friends and family, eat special treats, and give and receive thoughtful gifts. They are also an appropriate time for all to assess spiritual life, community involvement and opportunities for self-growth, and incorporate insights into the coming year.
